As a child I lived for Saturdays, because that was the day I could visit our local library and discover a new book to get lost in.

Looking back it's clear I used those books as a way to escape from reality.

Raised by an amazing single parent on a council estate in the north west of England - life wasn't easy for my brothers and I. But no matter what was taking place in our day-to-day lives, I knew I could rely on my books as a safe haven. The magic of Matilda and Harry Potter, the adventures of Bilbo and Frodo. Flying with Peter and Wendy, and a secret garden with Mary.

I wish I could speak to little Lucy, and tell her that one day she would be writing story books of her very own! (She wouldn't believe me!)

Now my goal is to write stories for other people to get lost in - to transport them to another world, and provide an escape from their day-to-day lives!
